The Workshop in the Morning Light
In Nan' an of Chongqing, there stands a workshop awakened by the morning light.
Here, time flows at a different pace. The seasoned craftsman' s hands glide over the leather, and every stitch sews not just thread, but 20 years of time and warmth. There is no roar of machinery, only the faint, gentle taps as the needle pierces the leather – the sound of time being woven.
One afternoon in 2008, a Singaporean dancer visited our workshop. He tried on a new pair of shoes, stood up and took a few steps, then held the shoes and said to us: "Dance shoes are a dancer' s life." At that moment, a batch of shoes was being shaped in the workshop. His words were like a beam of light, illuminating our ordinary daily lives. It dawned on us that the warm leather in our hands was supporting the most brilliant moments of others' lives.
